Yandusaurus (YEN-doo-SAWR-us) was a genus of hypsilophodontid dinosaur of the Bathonian age middle Jurassic, approximately 169 to 163 million years ago of China. |
A fast-moving biped, Yandusaurus had four toes on each foot and five fingers on each hand. It was 1 metres (3 ft) to 1.6 metres (5 ft) in length, and around 0.3 metres (1 ft) in height, weighing around 7 kg (15 lb). One species (Y. hongheensis) is known from two nearl complete skeletons. Yandusaurus was named by Dong, Chang, Li, and Zhou in 1978. The type species is Y. hongheensis. Fossils were found in China. |
