Wakinosaurus

Wakinosaurus - Meaning : Wakin lizard

Wakinosaurus (wack-in-o-sawr-us) (meaning "Wakin lizard") was a theropod dinosaur. Its fossils were found in Japan. Wakinosaurus lived during the Early Cretaceous. The type species, W. satoi, was described by Okazaki in 1992. The genus is a tooth taxon, based solely on a tooth.

Wakinosaurus is the first Japanese dinosaur to be described and formally named, although there are many who believe that the partial tooth is not diagnostic. It is possibly an allosaurid.

Wakinosaurus was a meat-eating dinosaur that lived about 144-125 million years ago. The type species is W. satoi. Wakinosaurus was named by Okazaki in 1992.
