Rhoetosaurus, (REET-oh-SAWR-us) alternative pronunciations: Rhaetosaurus (de Lapparent & Laverat, 1955); Rheteosaurus (Yadugiri, Prasad & Satsangi, 1979), ("Rhoetos lizard"), named after Rhoetus, a Titan in Greek Mythology, was a genus of Sauropod dinosaurs from the Middle Jurassic. |
These animals lived in what is now Australia, and are estimated to have been 12-15 metres long. Rhoetosaurus lived about 181 to 175 million years ago. This quadrupedal plant-eater had a long tail, a long neck, a small, box-like head, and a bulky body. Fossils have been found in Queensland, Australia. Rhoetosaurus was a herbivorous dinosaur which was active in the Bathonian-Callovian ages 177-169 million years ago. It could be found in Queensland, Australia. |
