Giraffatitan (ji-raf-a-tie-tan) was a sauropod dinosaur of the family Brachiosauridae from Upper Jurassic Africa, originally named as an African species of Brachiosaurus (B. brancai). It was named by paleontologist Gregory S. Paul in 1988. G. brancai is the type species. |
Giraffatitan grew 75-100 feet (23-30 metres) long, was a huge, lightly-built, quadrupedal, long-necked, whip-tailed, plant-eating dinosaur. |
