Borogovia

Borogovia - Meaning: Borogove

Borogovia (bor-o-goh-vee-a) was a theropod dinosaur which lived during the Late Cretaceous Period, around 70 - 65 million years ago, in what is now Mongolia. This agile carnivorous troodontid takes its name from creatures known as 'borogoves' in the Lewis Carroll poem, Jabberwocky (1871).

Borogovia Characteristics

Known only by partial hind limbs, the Borogovia was 2 metres (6 feet) long and weighed 13 kilograms (27 pounds). Borogovua was quite small in size and had a bipedal stance. It probably had feathers. Troodontids are best characterized as small, rather delicate theropods with relatively the largest brains of any classic dinosaur. Borogovia had long and slender legs, and unusual teeth that have been mistaken for those of the ornithischian group Pachycephalosauria. These teeth have led some researchers to suggest that they were omnivorous. Like ornithomimosauroids, they had large eyes, a long thin flexible tail and long arms. They had powerful legs and clawed toes. . Borogovia had a bipedal stance and could have had feathers.
